Why has Arsene Wenger Sold Two of His Key Players?

Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure have been sold to Man City, who have not only spent £100 million on new players, but who are determined to take Arsenals no.4 position in the premiership.

To make matters worse, Arsenal are not splashing out in the transfer market, again. Arsenal fans are probably thinking here we go again with a group of kids challenging for the premiership.

Last season Flamini and Silva were sold without any strong midfield replacements, and the one player that Wenger should have fought to keep, like Fergie fought to keep Ronaldo, is Diarra who has gone on to show his genius elsewhere. To be fair, Arsenal did well in the Champions League last season, but Arsenal didn’t win it. How many times does Arsene need to learn the same lesson over and over again. He can’t challenge for any titles without stronger, older and more experienced players mixed in with the young players.

Man United won the title last season, and still bought in re-enforcements, in the form of Berbatov and Tevez, and fought to keep Ronaldo, and won, deservedly,  the premiership again.

No-one is discounting the fact that Wenger has been and is a good manager but he owes it to the fans to tell them the truth about his finances and his ability to compete financially, or start showing fans that he means business this season, and to start bringing in serious players who have what it takes to challenge the top 3.

Do Arsenal fans really need to be put through another trophyless season. No serious new re-inforcements means the same story repeating itself again.

Will Arsene Wenger ever learn from his mistakes?
